GAPS YOUTH MOVEMENT PROJECT MAKES PROGRESS!
The GAPS Youth Movement (GYM) is a new project that is in its beginning stages of development. The goal of this movement is to create a worldwide network of young people, ages 10 to 28, who connect virtually and locally to learn about and implement the GAPS lifestyle while having support from peers. In a time where many young people are struggling with health challenges, mental and physical, the GYM will help our “GAPS YoungStars” move from adolescence to adulthood with a strong foundation of health by simply making better food and lifestyle choices. GYM community building will be accomplished through podcast episodes, articles, blog posts, engaging social media campaigns, as well as special lecture tracks reserved just for GYM participants at our annual GAPS OnCon event! GAPS OnCon 2024 planning is now in motion and more details will become available soon.
If you or someone you know is in in the GYM age group (10 to 28), Dr. Natasha and the GAPS Team would like to invite you to sign up for the GAPS mailing list to receive ongoing project updates. You’ll find our mailing list sign-up form in the bottom/footer of every page on this website. Once you subscribe, you’ll receive updates about the GAPS Youth Movement as Julia Dulgerova (GAPS Youth Movement Outreach Coordinator) and the GAPS Team develop and build this youth-based community.

WHAT MAKES THE GAPS NUTRITIONAL PROTOCOL DIFFERENT?
When the GAPS Nutritional Protocol was created by Dr. Natasha, it was designed within a full-spectrum framework of healing using nourishing food from the earth. This natural approach allows the body’s innate wisdom to balance itself from the inside out, at its own pace, to achieve balance (nourishment) and harmony (homeostasis).
Even though the protocol has a specific structure, it can be personalized to address the needs of any individual. These nuances aren’t always so obvious and that is where an educated GAPS person or certified Coach or Practitioner enters the picture to help themselves or their clients/patients become healthier overall.
GAPS is not a permanent elimination diet, and in fact, our goal is to help people to eat a wider variety of whole foods that are as untouched by processing as possible. It’s not always easy to find food resources of the highest quality, therefore, we encourage people on the GAPS Nutritional Protocol to adopt the concept of “good, better, best” to keep rigid tendencies to a minimum.
Other therapeutic protocols focus solely on the permanent elimination of foods with no reintroduction steps or stages, and they rely heavily on supplementation. The GAPS Nutritional Protocol takes a “food first” approach that is designed to fully nourish all body systems. We don’t discount the need for supplementation, but the goal is to keep it to a minimum due to budget concerns and potentially undesirable fillers and excipients often present in commercial supplements that can lead to unexplained reactions.
A little bit of GAPS is better than no GAPS at all, so rather than trying to create the “perfect personalized protocol” we encourage our GAPStars* to practice stress reduction through a balanced mindset. We must all be mindful to do the best we can, when we can, but to also extend ourselves and those we consult with some grace and flexibility. The GAPS Nutritional Protocol also stretches beyond food, always looking at our surroundings, including the air we breathe, the water we drink, the pots and pans we cook in, chemicals, EMFs, stress, movement and so much more. GAPS is truly a comprehensive protocol (one-stop shop), providing knowledge to our global community and teaching GAPS students to do the same on a deeper level within their own practices and non-clinical settings.
* A GAPStar is a grounded, awakened soul who intentionally travels the GAPS path to wellness by preparing real food using time-honored cooking techniques and cultivating a daily connection to community and nature.

GUT and PHYSIOLOGY SYNDROME
Dr. Natasha’s new and best-selling book!
The first GAPS book focused on learning disabilities and mental illness, but people all over the world have been using the GAPS Nutritional Protocol for healing from physical illnesses too. This inspired Dr. Natasha to write her new GAPS book, “Gut and Physiology Syndrome”, which focuses on the rest of the human body and completes the GAPS Concept. Allergies, autoimmune issues, digestive dysfunction, neurological and endocrine problems, asthma, eczema, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, psoriasis, chronic cystitis, arthritis, and many other chronic degenerative illnesses are covered.
Dr. Natasha believes that the link between the gut and physical/mental health, the food and drink we take, and the health of the digestive system are undeniably connected. Her deep understanding of these concepts put her advice in a class of its own.
